by Rainier on July 14, 2020 @ 3:01 p.m. PDT
Sid Meier’s Civilization VI sets another milestone in the Civilization franchise, which has sold-in over 34 million units worldwide and changed the gaming landscape by bringing the strategy genre to unparalleled heights.
In Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, cities will physically expand across the map to create new, deep strategic layers, active research in technology and culture will unlock new potential ways to play; and the large variety of leaders will pursue their own agendas based on their historical character traits as players race to achieve victory however they choose to play.
Sid Meier’s Civilization VI - New Frontier Pass is a new season pass that brings eight new civilizations, nine new leaders, six new game modes and more to the critically-acclaimed strategy game.
The second DLC pack in the Civilization VI – New Frontier Pass – Ethiopia Pack – will be launching on July 23. It will be available to anyone who owns the Civilization VI – New Frontier Pass or available for individual purchase for $4.99.
Included in the Ethiopia Pack is a new leader and civilization – Ethiopia – as well as a new District and additional buildings. Also, the DLC will include a new optional game mode called Secret Societies (requires Rise and Fall or Gathering Storm expansions to play). This game mode adds four powerful and mysterious Secret Societies to the world, where discovering a Society unlocks a unique Governor with powerful bonuses which players do not need to assign to a city. Once you become a member of a Society, you commit to membership for the rest of the game. Alliances with players who are members of the same Society generate Alliance Points more quickly, and those players will have an improved opinion of you in diplomacy. Players who are members of a different Society, however, will dislike you once they are aware of your affiliation.
Finally, those who've purchased the Civilization VI - New Frontier Pass will receive the Teddy Roosevelt and Catherine De Medici Persona Packs. Each Persona Pack contains a brand-new take on a favorite leader, with a new leader model and background, new gameplay bonuses and an updated agenda that reflects the changes to the leader’s personality. “Rough Rider Teddy” excels at keeping the peace on his home continent, while “Magnificence Catherine” can use Luxuries to overwhelm the world with Culture and Tourism.
The Civilization VI - New Frontier Pass content will be released in six downloadable (DLC) packs delivered on a bimonthly basis starting May 21, 2020 through March 2021 for $39.99 on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac and Linux, with mobile platforms arriving later this year. Each individual DLC pack will also be available for individual purchase.
Key Features:
- EXPANSIVE EMPIRES: See the marvels of your empire spread across the map like never before. Each city spans multiple tiles so you can custom build your cities to take full advantage of the local terrain;
- ACTIVE RESEARCH: Unlock boosts that speed your civilization’s progress through history. To advance more quickly, use your units to actively explore, develop your environment, and discover new cultures;
- DYNAMIC DIPLOMACY: Interactions with other civilizations change over the course of the game, from primitive first interactions where conflict is a fact of life, to late game alliances and negotiations;
- COMBINED ARMS: Expanding on the “one unit per tile” design, support units can now be embedded with other units, like anti-tank support with infantry, or a warrior with settlers. Similar units can also be combined to form powerful “Corps” units;
- ENHANCED MULTIPLAYER: In addition to traditional multiplayer modes, cooperate and compete with your friends in a wide variety of situations all designed to be easily completed in a single session;

Developer Firaxis Games have detailed the new content coming to the Ethiopia Pack for Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, including Cthulu worshiping cultists, and vampires.
As detailed in the Steam news post developer update video, the pack will adding the Ethiopia civilization and leader. Ethiopia gains extra Faith through international trade routes, which can spent in new ways for a culture victory.
A new District and additional buildings will also be part of the pack. The Diplomatic Quarter grants extra culture for every embassy or delegation from a foreign civilization. It also reduces the number of spies in that and adjacent districts. One one can be built in your civilization at a time.
Consulates also provide additional Influence Points per turn, while reducing the level of enemy spies targeting the city it is in, or any city with an encampment. The Chancery will grant extra Influence, and when an enemy spy is captured or killed you will gain Science.

The Sanguine Pact are vampires, with Vampire units that grows stronger when adjacent units perish. Vampires do not die, but can be healed by pillaging.
This is hardly the first time the game has stepped into fantasy. Past updates have also added zombies and aliens to their Red Death mode.
Returning to the Ethiopia pack; the other two secret societies are the Owls of Minerva (focused on espionage), and the Hermetic Order (focused on fringe science such as ley lines and alchemy).
